HubSpot wins this Close vs. HubSpot comparison for most growth teams because it connects CRM to marketing, service, reporting, and a much larger app ecosystem. Choose Close instead when your sales motion is built around calls, SMS, dialers, and rapid multichannel follow-up. Close is the better outbound operator’s tool; HubSpot is the better default customer platform.

This is official-source research checked July 29, 2026 (prices, plans and limits rechecked October 15, 2026), not a hands-on test. The expensive mistake is comparing HubSpot Free with Close Growth—or comparing seat prices while ignoring onboarding, phone and message usage, AI credits, other Hubs, integrations, and the people required to administer the system.

HubSpot

Close vs. HubSpot pricing

Category winner · · HubSpotHubSpot wins the entry price; Close can be the cleaner full-stack quote for a phone-heavy sales team.

HubSpot has the lower starting point. Its free CRM supports up to two users, with no credit card required. The live Sales Hub grid showed Starter at $7 per seat monthly on annual billing during the checked promotion, with $10 monthly pricing. That is enough for a basic team, but the serious sales-automation boundary is Professional: $90 per seat monthly billed annually, plus required one-time onboarding of $1,500.

Close Solo costs $9 per user monthly billed annually but is limited to one user and 10,000 leads. Essentials is the real team baseline at $35 per user monthly annually, with email, calling, SMS, forms, inbox, and tasks—but no workflows. Growth costs $99 annually and adds workflows, bulk email, Power Dialer, and custom activities. Calling, SMS, phone lines, and extra AI credits add usage cost.

HubSpot is cheaper for a small, light-use CRM. At the automation tier, the licenses are close enough that architecture matters more: HubSpot Professional for broader revenue operations; Close Growth for native phone, text, and outbound execution. Price 12 months of seats, onboarding, communications, credits, add-ons, and adjacent products before calling either one cheaper.

Key tradeoff: HubSpot subsidizes the entry and charges for platform depth; Close charges earlier for a focused communications stack.

Close

Pipeline and daily sales execution

Category winner · · CloseClose gives a calling-led team the more coherent rep workspace; HubSpot gives revenue operations the broader customer record.

Close centers the lead record on conversations and next actions. Leads, contacts, opportunities, pipelines, tasks, Smart Views, a shared inbox, email, calling, and SMS live in the same operating surface. That is the right bias when reps spend most of the day prospecting, following up, and moving a compact opportunity pipeline.

HubSpot’s advantage is lifecycle breadth. Its CRM joins companies, contacts, leads, deals, meetings, communication, marketing activity, service context, and reporting. The live Sales Hub grid listed one deal pipeline on Free, two on Starter, 15 on Professional, and 100 on Enterprise. That is a stronger foundation when several teams need one customer model, but it creates more configuration choices.

Choose Close when the manager needs every rep working a call, email, SMS, and follow-up queue. Choose HubSpot when the sales pipeline must share definitions and history with marketing, service, content, or revenue operations. Neither product fixes unclear stages, missing owners, weak loss reasons, or a manager who tolerates stale deals.

Key tradeoff: Close optimizes the rep’s next conversation; HubSpot optimizes the organization’s shared customer lifecycle.

Close

Calling, SMS, sequences, and automation

Category winner · · CloseClose is the stronger outbound communications system; HubSpot is the stronger general workflow platform.

Close

Growth $99/user/month annually

HubSpot

Professional $90/seat/month annually plus $1,500 onboarding

Close makes telephony part of the product. Essentials includes calling and SMS. Growth adds multichannel workflows and Power Dialer; Scale adds Predictive Dialer, live coaching, lead-visibility rules, and unlimited call-recording retention. Calling is usage-based, Close says most outbound calls cost about $0.02 per minute, phone numbers start around $1 monthly, and US SMS requires A2P 10DLC registration.

HubSpot Professional supplies a different automation model: up to 300 customizable workflows, 5,000 sequences per account, up to 500 sequence email sends per user daily, lead scoring, forecasting, and broader CRM automation. Enterprise raises workflows to 1,000 and sequence sends to 1,000 per user daily. HubSpot also lists calling capacity by paid tier, but it is not a substitute for validating country coverage, number availability, recording, and the team’s dialing motion.

Close wins when reps call and text at volume and the dialer must share context with email and follow-up. HubSpot wins when automation spans lifecycle stages, teams, objects, and adjacent Hubs. Do not buy either AI story without defining the job, credit consumption, human review, opt-out handling, deliverability, consent, and measurable lift.

Key tradeoff: Close automates outbound conversations natively; HubSpot automates a wider customer platform.

HubSpot

Marketing, service, reporting, and integrations

Category winner · · HubSpotHubSpot is the better platform when CRM must connect several go-to-market functions and a broad application stack.

Close

Sales-focused; connect other systems

HubSpot

Shared customer platform across Hubs

HubSpot is built to extend beyond sales. Sales Hub runs on the same CRM foundation as HubSpot’s marketing, service, content, data, and revenue products. Professional adds custom reporting, sales analytics, forecasting, playbooks, lead scoring, and 15 deal pipelines. The live pricing page advertised more than 2,000 apps and web services.

Close provides useful activity, opportunity-funnel, email-template, and workflow reporting, plus API access and a public integration directory. It advertises more than 100 integrations and can connect through Zapier to more than 2,000 third-party apps. That is adequate for many focused sales stacks, but HubSpot offers the stronger native path for campaign-to-revenue and service handoffs.

HubSpot wins if marketing attribution, service context, custom reports, cross-team workflows, and a large marketplace are operating requirements. Close wins only when that breadth would become unused configuration and extra administration. Integration counts are inventory, not proof: inspect objects, field mappings, sync direction, rate limits, retries, error visibility, permissions, and support for every required connector.

Key tradeoff: HubSpot expands around a shared CRM; Close keeps the system centered on sales execution and connects outward.
